JAM PACKED 4th OF JULY PLANNED FOR 2018
The Granbury Chamber of Commerce announces the 2018 4th of July Celebration and its jam packed with excitement. This year’s extravaganza will feature a day and a half of live concerts, fireworks, hometown parade, bucking bulls, and so much more. As July 4th lands on Wednesday this year, the festival will be the highlight of the week.
Beginning Tuesday evening, July 3rd, the D&D Rockin’ Rods Car Show kicks it all off at 7:00pm at the Granbury Nissan location on Highway 377. This signature showcase features over 150 cars on display, from hot rods to trucks to late models and customized vehicles. The public loves to vote on their favorites and awards are presented at the end of the night. Also planned for Tuesday evening is a live concert in Hewlett Park. The “Concert in the Park” is presented by 95.3 K-HITS and will feature the award-winning “Inversion Band.” This band is a top notch 11-piece show band voted “Best of the Best” by Modern Luxury Magazine and spotlights top 40 favorites from the ‘60s through the ‘90s. They’ll have you on your feet and dancing in the aisles under the Texas stars. The free concert kicks off at 7:00pm in the park and visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, coolers, and comfy clothes. Nearby food trucks will have refreshments on hand to quench your thirst and your hunger. They’ll feature choice picks from burgers, sausages on sticks, and sandwiches to something to help keep you cool, like cold drinks, snow cones, and ice cold beer.
Wednesday morning, July 4th, sees the full day of events start with the annual Kiwanis Firecracker 5K at 8:00am, followed by the Tom Ward Decorated Bike Contest at 9:00am. The Hometown Parade gets underway at 10:00am, stepping off from the Granbury High School and making its way down Pearl Street to the Historic Granbury Square. 92.1 Hank FM will be on the square broadcasting live with play-by-play and interviews. There will be food vendors and arts & crafts vendors on the square for your full day of shopping fun. The local shops and restaurants on the square will be open, as well. Beginning at 6:00pm, the Texas Junior Bull Riding Shootout will buck off at the Granbury Reunion Grounds. Watch as members of the junior rodeo association compete for top billing in mutton busting, calf riding, steer riding, and bull riding! Then, stay seated after the rodeo to take in the award-winning and top-ranked Extreme Pyrotechnics Fireworks Show beginning at dusk over Lake Granbury…this is the perfect seat for the Independence Day display! Don’t forget to tune into KPIR 1420 AM for choreographed patriotic music.
Granbury is the perfect place to spend your holiday week! You can take in a live performance at the New Granbury Live or see a musical at the Historic Granbury Opera House. Visit the shops on the square to find that special something, have dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in and around downtown, or take the family to the Brazos Drive In for a nostalgic night of entertainment. If sun, sand, and surf are your thing, Granbury has just what you’re looking for…from a day at the beach, boating and fishing on the lake, or even renting your own kayak for some paddling of your own.
“Granbury’s 4th of July celebration is like no other,” said Mike Scott, president of the Granbury Chamber. “We offer the hometown atmosphere that families enjoy while presenting excitement for all. This year, with the 4th falling on a Wednesday, we enjoy a unique opportunity to feature all our patriotic events on one day. It’s going to be an Independence Day extravaganza.”
